Jammu, March 01 (KNO) : Stating that the decision to extend constitution 77th amendment and constitution 103rd amendment to J&K should have been left to the elected government in the state, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice President and former MLC G N Monga Friday said BJP-Government was taking sensitive decisions in haste just for petty political benefits.
“Nobody is against granting reservation in promotions for the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and reservation for economically-weaker sections of the society. However, such decisions should be left to the elected government as in the present case, the concurrence for extending these amendments were given by the governor Satya Pal Malik, the government of India’s own nominee,” he said in a statement issued to KNO.
The Congress leader said such sensitive and crucial decision should have been left to the elected government in the state. “But for petty political gains, the BJP government at the Center is taking decisions in haste which could prove counter-productive. With elections round the corner BJP wants to reap maximum benefits without caring for constitutional requirements,” he said.
Monga said that after failing on all fronts, the BJP-Government is resorting to cheap-tactics to turn the tide in elections. “However, people will not only defeat the nefarious designs of the BJP this time, but will also give a massive mandate in favour of Congress party led by dynamic Rahul Gandhi to take the country forwards,” he said.
He also expressed concern over the repeated ceasefire violations along the LoC and especially in Uri sector. “Modi government has failed to ensure safety of people living near LoC. Since the day BJP assumed power at centre, the peaceful atmosphere in the country especially in J&K deteriorated.
As a result, people of the country especially those living near borders in this have suffered immensely due to the wrong policies on the part of central government,” he said. Monga demanded immediate compensation and safety of the residents living near the LoC in Uri sector, who have been affected due to the shelling.(KNO)
